A survey of more than 600 cardiology fellowship applicants from the 2025 cycle, published Monday in the Journal of Graduate Medical Education, found a median out-of-pocket interview cost of $4,800 — and a 91st-percentile cost of $14,200.

The survey is the first to systematically document interview costs in any subspecialty match. Authors estimate the figures translate into roughly $11 million in unreimbursed applicant spending per cycle.
