Jefferson County Health Center, a 25-bed critical-access hospital in southeast Iowa, is offering a $200,000 sign-on bonus paid directly to medical-school loan servicers — with a six-year service requirement — for two open primary-care positions.

It is the largest such offer the hospital’s recruiting team has seen in any rural Iowa search.
