California to require staffing-ratio audits across long-term-care facilities

The new rule, effective July 1, applies to all SNFs and assisted-living facilities with more than 50 beds.

California’s Department of Public Health on Friday finalized a rule requiring quarterly staffing-ratio audits at all skilled-nursing and assisted-living facilities with more than 50 beds, effective July 1.

The audit results will be made public on a state-run dashboard, a structural change long sought by advocates for long-term-care residents.
