The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted a revised set of sepsis surveillance definitions to its NHSN portal Friday afternoon, a change that — once implemented across the network — will affect published sepsis rates at virtually every academic medical center.

The revision is the second since 2022. Hospital-association comment is mixed.
