Sutter Health on Monday announced an in-house travel program — “Sutter Mobile” — that will pay full external-agency travel rates to its own permanent nurses willing to take 8- to 13-week assignments at any of the system’s 30 hospitals.

The move is the largest in-house travel program at any nonprofit health system in the country, by census, and explicitly aims to displace external agency spending.
