VA pilots ambient AI scribes in 12 primary care clinics

The Department of Veterans Affairs has expanded a pilot of ambient AI documentation tools to 12 primary care clinics, internal records reviewed by Scrubswire show, after a six-month evaluation reported a 38% reduction in note length with no measurable change in clinical accuracy.

The pilot, run jointly with VA’s Office of Connected Care, is the largest controlled deployment of ambient scribes in any single U.S. health system to date.
