The drugstore chain will close 217 VillageMD-branded clinics by Q3, citing reimbursement headwinds.
Walgreens Boots Alliance said Wednesday it will close 217 VillageMD-branded in-store clinics across 14 states by the third quarter, citing what the company called “sustained reimbursement headwinds” and a slower-than-projected ramp in same-day primary-care utilization.
The closures affect roughly 1,800 clinical staff. Walgreens said the company will offer transition support but did not commit to relocation packages.
